
The SweatShop is one of over 50 STOTT PILATES® Licensed Training Centers in the world. There are a few different paths that one can choose from when deciding to pursue training and certification in the STOTT PILATES® method . The various options are outlined below but for more specific details and further guidance please contact, Program Director, Kelly Dormady at 651-646-8418.
Intensive Programs are designed for qualifying health and
fitness professionals with a strong background in functional anatomy, experience taking Pilates and a minimum of three years teaching movement.
Intensive Mat-Plus™ (IMP)
This course provides instructors with a solid foundation and skill set upon which to develop highly effective and motivating group fitness classes and personal training programs. Instructors will learn to design and teach essential and intermediate level mat-based classes, integrating the small Arc Barrel, Fitness Circle®, and Flex-Ban® for variety and challenge to meet the needs of a range of clients. Course includes 40 hours instruction and supervised teaching. An additional 40–55 hours of observation, practice teaching and review subject to participants’ experience is required.
Intensive Reformer (IR)
This course prepares instructors to teach a broad range of exercises, variations and modifications on the Reformer—the key piece of resistance equipment used in Pilates-based exercise. Upon completion, instructors will be qualified to design and teach essential and intermediate level group and personal training exercises using a variety of verbal, visual and tactile cueing techniques. Course includes 50 hours of instruction and supervised teaching. An additional 60–75 hours of observation, practice teaching and review subject to participants’ experience is suggested.

Intensive Cadillac, Chair, and Barrels (ICCB)
New this year, STOTT PILATES® has separated Cadillac, Chair, and Barrels into separate components. These courses may be taken one at a time or as a series in preparation for full certification.
--CADILLAC: 25 hours of instruction and supervised teaching of essential and intermediate exercises on the Cadillac/Trapeze table, many of these exercises are also applicable to the V2 Max Plus™ Reformer* or traditional Reformer with vertical frame.
Prerequisites: IMP and IR or CMR
--CHAIR: 15 hours of instruction and supervised teaching, essential and intermediate exercises on the Split Pedal Stability Chair.
Prerequisites: IMP and IR or CMR
--BARRELS: 10 hours of instruction and supervised teaching, essential and intermediate exercises utilizing the ARC Barrel, Ladder Barrel, and Spine Corrector

The STOTT PILATES® Comprehensive Program is designed for those with limited movement training and exposure to Pilates. These courses provide the functional anatomy educational background and mentoring in a supportive environment that gives students the practical skills necessary to teach and design effective STOTT PILATES® programs.
Comprehensive Mat and Reformer (CMR)
This course teaches the biomechanical principles of STOTT PILATES® and their application to the mat and Reformer work. Students will learn essential and intermediate level exercises on the mat and Reformer, as well as modifications utilizing the Flex Band®, Fitness Circle®, and Arc Barrel. Course includes 30 hours of functional anatomy in lecture-demo format, 90 hours of classroom instruction and supervised teaching, 20 hours of observation, 70 hours of physical review, 40 hours of practice teaching and 60 hours of apprenticeship upon completion of the course material. The course requires a commitment of approximately 15 hours per week and a time frame of between four and six months.
If you have successfully completed STOTT PILATES® Intensive or Comprehensive Programs and want to expand your skills to challenge the fittest of your clients, you are encouraged to work toward Level 2 Certification by completing the relevant Advanced Coursework.
Advanced Mat (AM)
Breakdown of 10 advanced level mat exercises. Course includes 6 hours of classroom instruction.

Advanced Reformer (AR)
Breakdown of 35 advanced level Reformer exercises. Course includes 18 hours of classroom instruction.
Prerequisite: IR or CMR & AM
Advanced Cadillac, Chair, Barrels (ACCB)
Breakdown of 47 advanced level Cadillac, Chair, and Barrels exercises. Course includes 12 hours of classroom instruction.
Prerequisite: ICCB or CCCB
Injury and Special Populations (ISP)
This course is an absolute must for any trainer doing one on one. ISP equips students with the skills and in-depth knowledge required to address a broad range of physical challenges among clients. Completion of the ISP course is required for Full STOTT PILATES® Certification. Course content includes how to address a variety of injuries, weaknesses and conditions including low back pain, spinal conditions, hip and knee replacements, shoulder and neck problems, fibromyalgia, arthritis and pregnancy.All equipment will be utilized in this 24 hour course.
Prerequisite: IMP, IR or CMR
Designed for Pilates instructors and fitness professionals, all introductory and continuing education workshops qualify for STOTT PILATES® CECs and many are eligible for credits elsewhere, such as ACE* and Can-Fit-Pro. Lengths vary from 90 minutes to six hours. All exercise-based workshops incorporate the STOTT PILATES® Five Basic Principles along with cueing and correcting tips for teaching technique.
